Chile's copper production in November 2022 stood at 459,229 mt, a year-on-year decrease of 5.5%.

SHANGHAI, Jan 4 (SMM) -  According to the statistics released by INE, Chile's national statistics institute, Chile's copper production in November, 2022 stood at 459,229 mt, a year-on-year decrease of 5.5%. It is assumed that the drop in the output was owed in part to the decline in ore grades and problems related to the production and operation of major mines. In addition, some copper mines were disturbed by water shortage, accidents and maintenance. It is known that Chile is the world's largest copper producer, where the mines were owned by global mining giants including Codelco, BHP Billiton, Glencore, Anglo American, Freeport-McMoRan and Antofagasta. The INE data also showed that Chile's manufacturing industrial output value fell by 7.8% in November. The previous drop in October was 9.2%. The decline in November was largely due to lower output of chemicals and materials, which was caused by insufficient raw materials to produce methanol, INE said.
