The export destinations for that month included 6150 tons to South Korea and 2595 tons to Japan, representing a 36% decrease and a 20% increase compared to the previous month, accounting for 67% and 28% of the total export volume for that month, respectively. In February 2024, the total amount of lithium hydroxide exported from China was 8,979 tons, a 3% decrease compared to the previous month, but a 6% increase compared to the same period last year. The downward trend in lithium hydroxide exports continued in February, with South Korea and Japan importing 6,014 tons and 2,682 tons from China, representing a 2% decrease and a 3% increase compared to the previous month, accounting for 65% and 29% of the total export volume for that month, respectively.

Overall, the export of lithium hydroxide from China experienced a significant decline in January 2024 compared to the previous month and the same period last year. Despite a slight increase in February compared to the previous year, the export volume remained relatively low. South Korea and Japan were the main destinations for Chinese lithium hydroxide exports during these months, with South Korea being the largest importer. It remains to be seen how this trend will continue in the coming months.
