Customs data shows that China's wrought and unwrought gallium exports in January-February 2024 were about 2,760 kilograms. China's wrought and unwrought gallium exports dropped significantly year-on-year. Compared with the export volume of 7,030 kilograms in December last year, it also dropped significantly by 61.1%. China’s export volume of forged and unwrought gallium dropped again to less than 3 tons.
According to SMM, most of China’s wrought and unwrought gallium exports from January to February were from a few companies. In other words, few Chinese enterprises have obtained wrought and unwrought gallium export licenses, and market participants generally believe that the current export control standards are still very tight. However, some market participants said that judging from the export of gallium compound products, there has actually been an increase. If true, it also means that the production model of many companies has shifted from gallium metal to compounds.
