Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 19, FAW Toyota officially announced the rollout of the new-generation Prado at its Sichuan factory, and the first batch of deliveries is about to begin soon. The rollout of the new Prado signifies FAW Toyota is ushering in a new era of electrification.
The new Prado, built on the TNGA-F platform, is available in four variants, with prices ranging from 459,800 yuan to 549,800 yuan. The vehicle measures 4,925mm in length, 1,940mm in width, and 1,910mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850mm.
Design-wise, the new Prado adopts a boxy shape, giving it a more robust appearance compared to its predecessor. It offers two exterior design options: a modern rectangular headlamp and a retro round headlamp (available only on the base model). The interior maintains Toyota's practical design philosophy, featuring a dashboard with numerous physical buttons for enhanced usability, whether in daily driving or off-road scenarios.
The new Prado is equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster and a large multimedia screen, providing essential smart interaction features. The T-Pilot intelligent driving assistance system is also standard. Higher trim levels include features like a digital rearview mirror, MTM multi-terrain selection monitoring system, MTS multi-terrain selectable driving aid, and an onboard refrigerator.
Powering the new Prado is a 2.4T hybrid system, delivering a combined maximum power output of 243kW (330 horsepower) and a peak torque of 630N·m. This system is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid system, part of Toyota’s fifth-generation intelligent hybrid technology, benefits from comprehensive upgrades in miniaturization, lightweight construction, and precision, significantly enhancing system efficiency and providing users with a faster, more economical, quieter, and safer driving experience.
The new Prado also debuts the EPS electronic power steering system and the SDM electronically controlled stabilizer bar disconnection device, balancing off-road stability and urban driving comfort. The full-time four-wheel-drive system includes a Torsen limited-slip central differential and an electronically controlled mechanical rear axle differential lock, ensuring excellent off-road capability.
