[SMM Analysis: Mainstream Refined Cobalt Smelters Operated at Full Capacity, December Refined Cobalt Production Maintained Growth]
In December 2024, China's refined cobalt production was up 4% MoM and up 117% YoY. The main reason for the production increase in December was that mainstream refined cobalt smelters maintained high operating rates, and some smelters operated at full capacity to meet annual production targets. As a result, overall refined cobalt production in December maintained growth. Refined cobalt production in January 2025 is expected to see relatively small fluctuations.
