SMM, January 6: Silicon metal prices in east China remained stable. Standard #553 silicon metal in east China was quoted at 10,900-11,100 yuan/mt, above-standard #553 silicon metal at 11,000-11,300 yuan/mt, and #421 silicon metal at 11,700-12,000 yuan/mt. Currently, spot silicon metal quotations from manufacturers show no price advantage compared to the inventory held by traders, coupled with weak overall demand from downstream end-users. Silicon companies reported that recent new order transactions remained moderate. However, many silicon companies indicated that silicon prices are far below the cost line, and with weak market inquiries and purchases, some southwestern silicon companies that have already halted production stated that external quotations are currently meaningless and have suspended quoting and shipments.
