In December, the average price of Acheson furnace graphitisation was 8,743 yuan/mt, down 0.22% MoM; the average price of box furnace graphitisation was 7,780 yuan/mt, down 0.25% MoM. With the development of the industry, downstream anode customers tend to strengthen their own integrated production lines, reducing their reliance on outsourced graphitisation. Even when orders are placed, they are often at extremely low prices, leading to a situation where graphitisation tolling businesses face overall weak demand. Profits are below the cost line, making the entire industry appear relatively stagnant.
From this month's capacity perspective, December's total graphitisation capacity was 3.304 million mt; January's total graphitisation capacity is expected to reach 3.331 million mt. Looking ahead, in January, due to limited profit margins, there is an upward sentiment in outsourced graphitisation pricing. However, outsourced graphitisation remains in an oversupply situation, with supply expected to increase further in January. As a result, graphitisation tolling businesses are likely to maintain stable pricing, and the market is expected to remain sluggish.
