SMM, February 27:
This week, lithium battery separator material prices remained stable. Previously, the separator industry was deeply mired in a prolonged price war, significantly increasing the survival pressure on separator enterprises, which exhibited a strong sentiment to stand firm on quotes. Supply and demand side, although the market has been gradually recovering, downstream demand has not shown significant growth, and the operating rate of separator enterprises has not displayed a notable upward trend. Against the backdrop of weak supply and demand, downstream battery cell manufacturers have largely ceased price suppression to ensure supply chain stability, resulting in stable separator prices this week. Looking ahead, as new capacity in the separator industry gradually reaches full production, the growth rate of downstream demand is unlikely to quickly match the pace of capacity expansion, potentially prolonging the oversupply situation. Under such circumstances, separator enterprises may engage in fierce price wars again to capture more market share in a limited market.
