Beijing (Gasgoo)- On March 13, autonomous driving technology company WeRide announced that its Robotaxi fleet has been approved to offer paid autonomous ride-hailing services between Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area and Beijing South Railway Station.
This marks the first commercial Robotaxi service to extend into Beijing's Third Ring Road area and expands WeRide's operational coverage in the capital city to over 600 square kilometers.
With the official launch, passengers can book WeRide's Robotaxi service via the company's mobile app, available for download in mobile app stores.
Beijing South Railway Station is one of Asia's largest and busiest high-speed rail hubs, serving major routes such as the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, and Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway. During peak periods, the station handles over 150,000 trips daily.
The approval for paid Robotaxi services at this major transportation hub highlights the proven reliability and safety of WeRide's autonomous driving technology. The service seamlessly navigates both highways and dense urban environments, demonstrating its capability to handle complex, high-traffic conditions with ease.
