Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 13, Great Wall Motor's 2025 Haval H5 officially hit the market with five variants, priced between 147,800 yuan and 177,800 yuan.
The latest model features a bold, rugged design, with blacked-out styling elements, including roof rails, front grille, wheels, and window trims, enhancing its commanding road presence. Thanks to its raised stance, the new Haval H5 improves off-road capability with a 26-degree approach angle, 24-degree departure angle, and a minimum ground clearance of 225mm (unladen), making it well-suited for tackling rough terrain, gravel roads, and muddy paths.
The 2025 Haval H5 has streamlined the model lineup by eliminating manual and two-wheel-drive versions, making four-wheel drive standard across the range. A new high-end "Navigator" trim has been introduced. The new H5 features premium upgrades such as a power tailgate with anti-pinch protection and adjustable height settings, heated front seats covering over 90% of the surface area, and fixed side steps for easier access, particularly for elderly and child passengers. Safety has also been enhanced with an extended side curtain airbag measuring 1,876mm, covering both the front and rear passengers. Additionally, the 2025 Haval H5 now offers optional 17-inch all-terrain (AT) tires, broadening its off-road versatility.
Built on Great Wall Motor's TANK platform—shared with the TANK 500 and TANK 400 body-on-frame SUVs—the new HAVAL H5 boasts a highly durable frame with a maximum cross-section of 160x130mm and a torsional stiffness of 232kN·m/rad, ensuring superior load-bearing capacity and long-term durability.
Under the hood, the gasoline variant retains the 2.0T engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering a maximum output of 160kW and 380N·m of torque. The diesel version is powered by Great Wall Motor's latest-generation diesel engine-fueled, producing 120kW and 400N·m of peak net torque, with 210N·m available from just 1,000 rpm and full torque achieved at 1,400 rpm. High thermal efficiency (42.35%) and a 2,000-bar fuel injection system optimize combustion for improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.
Off-road performance is further enhanced by a dual-speed electronic transfer case, allowing drivers to switch between different four-wheel-drive modes based on terrain conditions. In 4L mode, torque is amplified by 2.48 times for increased traction. The new model also improves on its predecessor with a steeper approach angle (26° vs. 25°), a greater departure angle (24° vs. 22°), and increased minimum ground clearance (225mm vs. 200mm). The new Haval H5's water-wading depth reaches 600mm, reinforcing its all-terrain capabilities.
