On Thursday, April 17, Alphamin Resources announced that its Bisie tin mine in eastern DRC resumed tin production on Tuesday after anti-government forces retreated from the nearby town of Walikale.
The company stated in a release that it is processing stockpiled tin ore, and underground mining activities are expected to resume later this month as more workers return to their jobs.
Alphamin had suspended operations at the Bisie mine in March due to the approach of non-state armed groups. The Bisie mine accounts for approximately 6% of global annual tin production.
