On April 18, CATL's official Weibo announced that a launch event themed "Boundary Awakening" will be held on April 21. The phrase "Super Tech Day" on the promotional poster has sparked much anticipation, marking CATL's first-ever Tech Day. Previously, during an earnings call, CATL revealed that the company is accelerating the R&D process of its second-generation sodium-ion battery, with its performance metrics gradually approaching those of LFP batteries. Currently, breakthroughs are continuously being made in various segments of the sodium-ion battery industry chain, including the cathode, anode, electrolyte, and equipment, leading to a continuous improvement in the cost-performance ratio of sodium-ion battery cells. This provides a guarantee for accelerating the industrialization of sodium-ion batteries. A research report from Caixin Securities pointed out that as the sodium-ion battery industry chain matures and costs decrease, the penetration of sodium-ion batteries in related fields will continue to accelerate. According to the thematic database of Cailian Press, among the relevant publicly listed firms: Inner Mongolia Yuansheng Sodium Technology Co., Ltd., controlled by Baihehua, is primarily engaged in the production and sales of metallic sodium, with a designed capacity of 20,000 mt/year of metallic sodium and 30,000 mt/year of by-product liquid chlorine. Shanghai Xiba's products, including solid-state electrolytes, silicon carbon anodes, and hard carbon anodes, have been delivered to multiple producers for testing, with some entering the product verification stage.
