According to Fox Business News Channel, Ohio Republican Senator J.D. Vance called on U.S. Steel Corp to reject takeover offers from foreign entities to protect its own shareholders and the national interest. In a letter to U.S. Steel CEO David Burritt and Chairman David Sutherland, Vance asked the company to “evaluate a proposal to acquire U.S. Steel Corp or any of its assets.” The company’s spokesman acknowledged Vance’s letter but said in a statement that they won’t comment on the vetting process for potential buyers.
