Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FANGCHENGBAO, BYD's professional personalized sub-brand, announced its sales figures for November, totaling 8,521 units, representing a 41.4% leap from the previous month. Specifically, 6,058 units were of the BAO 5 model, and 2,463 units were from the BAO 8 model.
As of November 2024, the cumulative sales of FANGCHENGBAO have reached 50,682 units.
The BAO 5, built on BYD's DMO (Dual Mode Off-road) platform, officially went on sale in November 2023. Currently, there are four trim levels available, priced between 239,800 yuan and 302,800 yuan. The BAO 8, with a guidance price range between 379,800 yuan and 407,800 yuan, comes equipped with the DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system and Huawei's Qiankun ADS (automated driving system) 3.0 solution.
BAO 5
In terms of appearance, the BAO 5 features a rugged, off-road design. Its front face is equipped with electric current matrix headlights, and a narrow-bar front grille with the logo inside shining at night. In addition, the bumper below boasts a bold design feature, creating a strong off-road presence.
The BAO 5’s side profile maintains straight, bold lines, with distinctive features like a strong horizontal waistline and protective materials around the wheel arches and doors. It is also equipped with a straight roof-mounted luggage rack.
In terms of off-road capability, the BAO 5 offers impressive approach and departure angles of 35° and 32°, respectively, along with a minimum ground clearance of 220 mm, which increases to 310 mm with the DiSus-P.
At the rear, the BAO 5 retains a square design, with a side-opening tailgate and choices of half and full external spare tire covers, reinforcing its rugged look. It also features distinctive, vertically aligned rear lights. The BAO 5 is available in two tire sizes, with variants offering 18-inch wheels and 265/65 R18 tires, as well as optional 20-inch wheels with 275/55 R20 tires.
Regarding power performance, the BAO 5 is powered by the DMO platform, combining a 1.5T engine with front and rear electric motors. The engine generates 143 kW and 273 Nm, while the front and rear motors produce 200 kW/285 kW and 360 Nm/400 Nm, respectively. The combined system output reaches 505 kW and 760 Nm of torque, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. It offers a combined range of up to 1,200 km.
The top-spec BAO 5 model, equipped with the DiSus-P, provides adjustable height, damping, and four-wheel coordination, significantly enhancing its off-road capabilities. The system allows the minimum ground clearance to increase from 220 mm to 310 mm, with improved approach and departure angles of 39° and 35°, respectively.
BAO 8
In terms of appearance, the BAO 8 adopts the "Future Starship Aesthetic" design concept, with a front grille and headlights similar to those of the BAO 5, offering a broad visual stance. Its front bumper includes heavy-duty coverage to emphasize its rugged style.
The vehicle's side profile is strong and straight, with gear-styled wheels. As for size, the BAO 8 measures 5,195 mm in length, 1,994 mm in width, and 1,875 mm (1,905 mm with roof rack) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. At the rear, it features a tailgate-mounted spare tire cover and distinctive tailights for enhanced recognition.
Inside, the BAO 8 is equipped with the DiLink cockpit system, featuring a 17.3-inch central display, a 12.3-inch passenger's screen, a 12.3-inch dashboard, and a 50-inch AR-HUD display. The central display features a DiLink 150 cockpit system powered by BYD's 9000 chip. The interior, paired with a four-spoke multi-function steering wheel, maintains a balance of physical buttons and digital controls, including a unique aircraft-inspired gear shift area.
As for intelligent driving capabilities, the BAO 8 is equipped with Huawei's Qiankun ADS 3.0 intelligent driving system. This system enables full-scenario intelligent pilot assist and also offers features such as automatic parking upon exiting the vehicle, valet parking, and remote parking.
The BAO 8 is powered by a 2.0T engine paired with electric motors, delivering a combined output of 550 kW and 760 Nm of peak torque. It features a 36.86 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing a battery-powered range of 125 km and a combined range of up to 1,200 km. The model is also equipped with the DiSus-P system, allowing adaptive adjustments to the suspension, including comfort and height settings, as well as intelligent differential locking and multiple driving modes.
