Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Recently, AICT, a Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) enterprise, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Department of Data Science at the College of Computing, City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), to jointly establish a lab focused on advancing research and applications in data science and AI fields, according to a post on AICT's WeChat account. The collaboration aims to foster the development of next-generation AI talent.
Founded in 2015, AICT is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the R&D and application of high-accuracy AI (HAI) products. Its HAI technologies and solutions are widely applied in perception robotics, intelligent traffic lights, smart roads, autonomous driving, vehicle-road-cloud integration, low-altitude traffic, and spatial intelligence. Established in 1984, CityUHK is a prestigious international institution renowned for its excellence in research and teaching. Its Department of Data Science boasts strong research capabilities and a top-tier academic team in AI and data science domains.
Under the MoU, the partnership aims to combine AICT's extensive practical experience in AI technology with CityUHK's strong academic research foundation. The joint laboratory will focus on cutting-edge technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, data decision-making, and data intelligence. The collaboration aims to accelerate the practical application and transformation of scientific research in the high-precision AI field through industry-academia cooperation.
In addition, the laboratory is to offer an online platform for communication and collaboration, hosting regular technical seminars, laboratory tours, opening ceremonies, and open days to facilitate academic-industrial exchange. It also plans to provide students with opportunities to engage in internships and project research, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. Besides, both parties will collaborate on AI and data science-related R&D and commercialization projects, offering platforms for funding applications, technology licensing, and entrepreneurship and investment opportunities.
At the signing ceremony, Dr. Li Xiaoxiang, CTO of AICT, expressed the company's commitment to the partnership with CityUHK, stating, "The establishment of the joint lab will allow us to explore the possibilities of developing and applying HAI technology, while also providing a broader platform for talent cultivation and technological research."
