Expectations for Production Cuts and Long-Term Contract Deliveries Intersect, Keeping Primary Lead Smelter Inventories Low [SMM Primary Lead Inventory Weekly Review]
Mar 21, 2025, at 8:57 am
SMM March 21 News: As of March 21, the in-plant inventory of major primary lead delivery brands was 5,200 mt, a decrease of about 500 mt from March 14. This week, primary lead smelters in Henan entered maintenance, and those in Hunan reduced production due to insufficient raw material, leading to a temporary tightening of supply. At the beginning of the week, the SHFE lead 2503 contract completed delivery, with a large amount of lead ingots transferred from factory warehouses to delivery warehouses, significantly lowering the in-plant inventory levels. With the end of March approaching, lead smelters actively fulfilled long-term contracts, and downstream enterprises, facing high lead prices, were also willing to accept long-term contracts for procurement, thus keeping the in-plant inventory at a low level this week.
