SHANGHAI, Jan 3 (SMM) - The recycling amount of battery scrap was limited as the traders were affected by the pandemic outbreak. According to the smelters, the daily procurement of battery scrap declined. At present, the supply of battery scrap diverged. For example, traders in Shandong and Sichuan said that the supply of battery scrap was lower than in the past few years as the replacement demand was weak due to the pandemic outbreak and cold weather. Meanwhile, according to the smelters in Inner Mongolia, Guizhou and Jiangxi, there was still a certain amount of battery scrap available in the market. However, the traders were affected by the pandemic and the recycling amount was reduced, which made it difficult for smelters to purchase battery scrap. The smelters still have stockpiling demand for raw materials for the New Year's Day and Chinese New Year, hence the subsequent purchasing amount of battery scrap is expected to increase.
